On listening to the recording I would say that it is just an exerpt from another 1981 concert. There are rumors floating around that Duran themselves recorded many of the early shows, but I don't think this is a leak from their vault. There's also rumors that they lip-synched to "live" backing tapes in the early days, although I don't believe that to be true. I think people have mistaken the fact that Nick used some pre-recorded tape recordings for some of the music... the guitars and singing were always live (in my opinion). *2*Helsinki, Finland - Kulttuuritalo - September 26, 1982 After sending this show to a person in Finland, I was informed that this show is labelled wrong (it's not Helsinki). I have decided to leave it on my list labelled as is, as I do not have any further information. I'm including this side note just so anyone who is interested in this recording can be aware that someone who was at this show is saying it is not actually the correct recording. *3*London, England - Wembley Arena - December 13, 1983 This is a heavily traded concert from the old days of audio collecting. Of course it is known that they did not play at Wembley Arena on this date. It is most likely from a different date in December (they played many shows at Wembley in late December). Since I do not have an exact correct date I have left it on my list labelled as December 13, so any other "old school" traders would not think it is a different recording. *4*Vancouver, BC, Canada - P.N.E. Coliseum - January 31, 1984 I have had my own personal doubts of this recording since the day I received it. Parts of this recording may indeed be from Vancouver, but I think that someone has mixed in parts of another 1984 show (New York?) to make this seem like a complete concert recording. Again, this is *my opinion* when listening to the tape. *5*Dublin, Ireland - RDS Stadium - April 21, 1987 I was told by an Irish guy that the April 21, 1987 Dublin show was cancelled and postponed to April 22, 1987. An official tour listing I have has Duran listed as playing Dublin on both dates, so I do not know if the above show is from the 21st or 22nd, but the city is correct. *6*London, England - Hammersmith Odeon - November 26, 1982 This concert is available as the bootleg "Planet Heart". Whoever pressed that bootleg labelled it as Duran Duran live in New York - November 22, 1984 but it is actually London November 26, 1982. *7*Worcester, MA, USA - Centrum - January 20, 1989 This recording will often surface on many people's trade lists as being from a city named "Augusta" (same date). I have no idea how it has become so commonly mislabelled over the years, but it is actually from the town of Worcester (just outside Boston). The date is correct though. *8*Los Angeles, CA, USA - Universal Amphitheatre - February 2, 1989 This recording will show up on many people's trade lists as either February 2, 1989 or February 3, 1989. It is the same recording, and nobody knows for sure which date is actually correct, as they did play in Los Angeles on both dates. *9*New York, NY, USA - The Academy - February 12, 1993 (late show) This show is most commonly known as the bootleg CD "Gemini". Whoever pressed this CD labelled the date as February 13, 1993, but the show is actually from February 12. They did 2 shows at the Academy in one evening. First show started at 7:30 and the second show at 11:30. Perhaps the person who made the CD assumed since it was so close to midnight they just decided to label it as Feb. 13. Either way it is the same recording. Also exists on video bootleg. *10*Birmingham, England - Aston University - Feb. 27, 1981 (60 min) (poor quality) I'm pretty certain this is a fake recording, although many traders have it listed on their trade lists. I am still trying to gather more information about this recording, and will place it here when I find out anything. *11*London, England - Sundown Club - March 4, 1981 I was told this information about this Sundown show by a very reliable source who knows the early recordings very well: "Your Sundown tape is definately fake, it's the Khanada bootleg with two songs from the Sundown and six from Hammersmith Odeon 07/81". I'm leaving the recording and these notes on this account just to make other traders aware. But this is not the recording it's stated to be. I will certainly be adding more notes about selected concerts as time goes on. I throughly enjoy collecting rare Duran Duran recordings, and it is a passion of mine to keep all information about these recordings as accurate as possible. PLEASE if you have any information about the authenticity of a recording, let me know. I'm always on the lookout for false labelled concerts, or as a friend referred to them: the "bad eggs" in the collection. (Thanks Iris!) I can be reached at: duranie@nb.sympatico.ca As of November 15, 1999 I now own a CD writer ... so what I have on CD is now tradeable on CD's. List last modified November 1999; major list overhaul coming soon.
